So what’s it like: Odds are if you’re a gamer, you’ve played final fight at least once in your life. Many argue Final Fight as being the quintessential side-scrolling beat-em-up. Crime is running amok in Metro City, when the Mad Gear gang kidnap the mayor/ex-professional wrestler Mike Haggar’s daughter.
It is up to you to take control of Haggar, or his daughter’s boyfriend or some other guy. But those last two don’t matter, you want to play as Mike Haggar.
You walk through the streets, beating up thugs with your fists, knives, pipes or any other weapons you come across. Each level ends with a boss. There are six levels and bosses, with two bonus stages.
Should you go back: Yes. Even if you’ve played Final Fight recently, it’s worth going back. Especially if you play with a friend. But then one of you can’t be Mike Haggar, and that’s awful.
Should this game be remade: Yes. It would be interesting to see an updated version. Games like Castle Crashers, and most recently Shank, have proved that the beat-em-up still plays in 2010.
